A letter from one of our parents:
Dear Dr. Kirby,
I have a child who is high functioning within the autism spectrum. Of
all the therapies that my husband and I tried, Auditory Integration
Training, has been the most effective and dramatic in leading to
improvement in our son. We originally started our son with Auditory
Integration Training through a local practitioner in our area which
produced immediate improvements in speech such as speaking in full
sentences for the first time and becoming potty trained (this took about
three sessions with our local practitioner). We then purchased your
serious composer CDs to be able to have our son listen to AIT in the
comfort of his home.
Your CDs are one of the best investments we have made in therapy for our
son since he was diagnosed within the autism spectrum over six years ago.
Since we purchased your Serious Compser CDs over three years ago, we
have used them over and over. When we see our son beginning to lose
focus and regress, we have him listen to your disks and he immediately
becomes more alert and starts moving forward again. He always
seems to go through a cognitive growth spurt when he listens to your CDs.
He is currently in 4th grade without an aide and is doing well in
math, reading and writing. He is also has a good friend next door
with whom he plays with on a regular basis. I would say his autism
is pretty mild at this point and your CDs have been a significant
contributing factor to his progress.
Another interesting effect appears to be the development of our son's
musical ability, which has occurred with a small number of children who
have gone through AIT. Our son is gifted in piano and has perfect
pitch and I believe your CDs may have contributed to stimulating the
growth of his musical ability.
